Discussion :
FUNDRAISERS to help reduce the cost per person
1. SWAMP JOHNS, can be held@ Hartselle High School. We will need to sell tickets in order to give S.J. a number of plates to estimate the amount of food needed for dinner. Plates will also be available "at the door". We would be responsible for advertising, banners, ticket printing/sales (minimum of 150).
2. GOLF TOURNAMENT @ Burningtree Golf Course. Date TBA. We will need a Banner; Tee Markers will be $100 per business/sponsor. Golf pro will handle details.
2. LOCATION of reunion ?---- Cost to rent a space varies from $0 to $1500. Several places were researched. Details available for each included
TURTLE POINT RESORT, near Rogersville. The cost here was $0 but we decided that location would be too far and not as easily accessible as others to our alma mater. No outside caterer allowed. Other locations discussed were Doubletree Hotel in Decatur, Quail Creek Golf Resort and Burningtree Country Club.
DOUBLETREE – Banquet Room $200-$400 depending on size needed. Must use there catering service.
Rhodes Ferry Park would be available for a family friendly picnic Saturday.
QUAIL CREEK - Included in the "use of facilities" price, is a large pavilion that can be enclosed or open
including heat or air conditioning; Conference Center, a smaller room that could be used for a "meet and greet" if desired; Chapel; Adams Room: playground, batting cage, pool and picnic area (covered) could be used for Saturday, family friendly picnic.; Team Room could be used for Breakfast for those staying onsite. Price for weekend use $600. This does not include cost of individual hotel rooms. The Inn, includes 2 double beds, sleeper sofa, iron/board, mini frig, microwave, blow dryer ($89 per night) Optional Catering Services for additional cost, outside caterer allowed.
BURNINGTREE COUNTRY CLUB - Included here are a large banquet room with a space on each side that can be opened to enlarge the room. We must use their catering department for banquet meal/hors d'oeuvres. Use of the pool and an afternoon cookout can be arranged if desired. A $200 deposit is required to reserve the date.
After discussion, among members present, for possible locations it was decided we would once again go to Burningtree Country Club.
3. DATE: Discussed the results of the online survey and decided on FALL 2016 for our 44th Reunion of the class of 1972. October 8th, 2016. Later on the 26th of September we were able to secure, with a deposit of $200, the Burningtree Country Club. I used the cash donation we had received at the meeting.
Other notes: A generous donation of $200 was given (by Durk Benefield) to help with deposit for securing a location . We currently have $0 and funds are needed for things such as mail-outs, stamps, printer ink ... ).
We divided a list of classmates among those present to verify/gather addresses and phone numbers. This information will be shared at our October meeting on October 17, 2015 , Freighthouse Restaurant, Hartselle, AL. 11:30 AM. A report of our findings will be used to seek further information for those not located.
Ginny Carden will gather information for establishing a bank account for reunion fees and expenses.
A brief discussion was held about gathering the names of deceased classmates
